The 340,000-square-foot Bayshore Pavilion is the newest addition to Tampa General Hospital and opened its Emergency & Trauma Center and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit in November 2007. Services located in this building include emergency and trauma, cardiovascular, women's, neuroscience and trauma intensive care and digestive diagnosis and treatment. The building's design features bright open spaces, soft lighting, generous use of plants and views of the water and city throughout. Interior colors in shades of sand, blues and greens reflect its island location. The artwork of nearly 100 local artists will be prominently displayed in public areas throughout the building. Offering amenities such as private rooms and bathrooms the building is designed to maximize patients' comfort, privacy and convenience. Patients and visitors will enter the building through a glass- enclosed walkway at the hospital's main entrance and take elevators to patient care floors.
